"Changes"

Agony always fed on my very soul
Pulled at my innermost, gnawed at each bone
My blood was poisoned, it seemed to boil
While my every thought seemed to be soiled

All my lifes’ shattered fragments
Now lying there, somber remnants
Torn apart by a cruel reality
There was no escape from insanity

Been hunted down by all those thoughts
Haven't found what I have sought
Whom can I ask, who holds the key?
To unlock the door and set me free

Though the past will always be a part of me
I need to make a change and set myself free
Wipe away the clouds of yesterday
Heading to the light, I'm on my way

So now I'm standing here, I'm the first in line
It's up to me, no use denying
Time is up, my star is shining bright
Out of the darkness and into the light

Now it's the time to recapture my life
Regain control, not only survive
Like a phoenix from the ashes I will rise
Whatever it takes, I will pay the prize
